An unique work is an original artwork that is one of a kind and does not have multiple editions.
What is a print?
A print is an artwork made by transferring an image from a medium onto a surface, typically paper. Printmaking often allows multiple copies or editions of the same image to be produced. Common mediums or methods of printmaking include screen printing, etching, and woodcut.
Why are artist’s signatures signed in pencil on prints?
Traditionally, the artist’s signature is signed in pencil to distinguish it from the printed image that is typically printed by ink. This demonstrates that the signature was signed and not printed.
