Gheorghi Filin

Selected from an executive jury panel representing the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, Carrara-based artist Gheorghi Filin is invited to participate in Tuwaiq Sculpture 2024. The fifth edition of the symposium and exhibition held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, commences with the theme; Dimensions of Movement, which explores concepts of progress, modernity, and human aspiration. The symposium gathers local and international artists to create on-site from January 14 to February 8, 2024, followed by an exhibition from February 12 to 24, before the artworks become a permanent feature of the capital city’s urban environment.

Hiding in the Island – Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei

Carrara-based artist Gheorghi Filin’s large-scale sculpture is now on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei. The 1999 marble sculpture Mermaid measures over four meters, and is the centrepiece to the group exhibition Hiding in the Island, which explores the history and geopolitics of art from Eastern Taiwan.
